The speed of vehicles included in the parade will be 6 kilometers per hour to give the public the chance to see the Philippine Olympic team. Stop-and-go traffic scheme will be implemented and approximate time for the parade is about 45 minutes,” he said during a press conference.

He also said that the float carrying the Philippine Olympians will have a provision for rain cover, in an event of a heavy downpour.

Artes said the homecoming parade is a victory celebration to honor the Olympic athletes, whom he described as “bagong bayani”.

There will be a celebration, and at the same time honoring our athletes who worked very hard to achieve such a historic and extraordinary achievement in the Olympics,” he said.

The homecoming parade component includes MMDA motorcycle units, PNP, MMDA Band, media, ambulance, and the athletes who will be aboard an elevated flatbed vehicle. Strictly no other vehicles will be allowed with the parade group.

Artes also advised affected motorists of alternate routes during the time of the parade:

Northbound towards R-10

  • Skyway
  • Buendia Ave.
  • Taft Ave.
  • F.B Harrison St.
  • Mabini St.
  • Pres. Quirino
  • Lacson Ave.

Southbound

  • Roxas Blvd.
  • UN Ave.
  • San Marcelino
  • Quirino Ave. to SLEX

After the parade, a short program will be conducted at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. The event is free and open to the public.
