Senator Risa Hontiveros has called on the Philippine government to take swift legal action against China for its aggressive actions in the Bajo de Masinloc region.
The senator stressed that China’s continuous encroachment into Philippine waters and now the airspace is a blatant violation of international law. Hontiveros highlighted a recent incident where Philippine Air Force pilots were endangered, building on previous hostilities where a Philippine Navy officer was harmed.
She urged the Executive to promptly file another round of legal cases before an international court to hold Beijing accountable.
The senator emphasized that the Philippines should not delay in addressing these provocations, posing the critical question, “Maghihintay pa ba tayo na may masugatan bago tayo umaksyon?” (Are we going to wait for someone to get hurt before we take action?)
The call to action reflects growing concerns over the safety of military personnel and the need to assert sovereignty.
